I can feel it.  The earth beginning its gradual tilt from the sun.  Before the temperature goes, or the leaves change–before I’m walking home in the dark of early evening–there’s the tilt.  These tracks are handpicked for that sensation.  The one where memories float for the picking, right there on the surface.  Where something so simple as a shade of wind can bring back an entire week from years ago.  The songs on this list have sorrow in their melodies, but aren’t defeated.  Nor are they confrontational.  They merely trudge forward into an eerie melancholy–sometimes by way of four precisely chosen chords, other times via harmonized backing shimmers.  They calm old nerves, and make new ones.  They cast long shadows.
