Summer was a passing train.  Only Then–at its heart–is a reaction as much as it is a reflection.  I have particular affinities to Blondes’, Taken By Trees’, and Happy Family’s contributions to this mixtape.  Taken By Trees holds a full house of an album and will throw it onto the table in a few weeks.  Blondes and Happy Family have proven what it means to be lyric-less and successful at the five minute mark; striated, throbbed, and miniaturized for distant viewing.  Washed Out reclines in a faded armchair and admires the day’s conclusion.  Real Estate boils an egg on the sidewalk.  Green Blossoms shoot a roll of film on a youngster’s smile.  The Twin Atlas is a backyard in the evening.  Dignan Porch sums up a summer.
